Full Itinerary

York County Pennsylvania, is the Factory Tour Capital of the World.  From motorcycles to potato chips, York County offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the making of some of America’s favorite products. Additionally, York County is a great place to explore the rich history of Pennsylvania and the United States. The first capital of the U.S., York provides a number of unique museums and historic sites, including a replica of the Colonial Courthouse where the Continental Congress met to ratify the Articles of Confederation during their nine-month stay in the region.

Gettysburg National Battlefield, site of a turning point in the Civil War, now part of Gettysburg National Military Park, is another amazing historical site. The park also includes the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center, displaying Civil War artifacts, and the Gettysburg National Cemetery, where a memorial marks the site of Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Gettysburg Address.

Day 1 - Monday, May 7, 2018--Travel to York, PA

Departing by motor coach from Westerville, Ohio, we travel to our host city, York, PA, for the 2018 Otterbein Migration. On the way, we will stop at Flight 93 National Memorial: A common field one day, A field of honor forever. One of America’s newest memorials, The Tower of Voices, is conceived as a monumental, 93-feet-tall musical instrument holding forty wind chimes. After our observance, we will enjoy lunch on our own before checking into the Heritage Hills Resort in York, PA. (Dinner included)

Day 2 - Tuesday, May 8, 2018--Made in America Behind-the-Scenes Tours

Today’s experiences start with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations. This factory tour offers you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a legend. See first-hand how these legendary machines come to life and take a look at the manufacturing and assembly processes.

Next, we experience Turkey Hill Dairy. Have you ever wondered why ice cream tastes so good?turkey-hill-neopaltin We’ll find out at this 26,000-square-foot dairy experience. Turkey Hill is famous for its ice cream and iced tea-making processes. The tour includes interactive exhibits (including a chance to make our own ice cream flavor), a café, a gift shop, and lots of other fun activities for the entire group!

After lunch on our own at the City Market and a city tour of historical York, we will visit Bluett Bros. Violins where Mark, the owner, will walk us through the process of crafting a violin: from choosing the wood, carving and tap toning to the finishing process. We will learn about the correlation of stringed instruments throughout history, as well as the acoustic properties that connect each genre of music. Finally, we will stop by the nearby Stauffer’s Factory Outlet Store. Known worldwide for their animal crackers and cookies, Stauffer’s offers a wide variety of other cookies, candies and salty treats which delight shoppers with every visit. (Breakfast included)

sunset-at-gettysburg-battlefieldToday’s experience is Gettysburg’s National Military Park and Battlefield. We'll then relax with an included lunch at the Dobbin House, a historic 1776 stone home beautifully and authentically restored and now a colonial manner restaurant and gift shop. After lunch, we will be joined by a local guide for our battlefield tour.
